The Flying Pizza Red t-shirt
For nearly 30 years, Flying Pizza, aka “Fly Pie,” served its signature thin-crusted, big, New York-style triangles and pies to the students and staff of the Ohio State University and Columbus community.
Located just South of 15th on High Street, across from the Undergraduate Library, Sullivant Hall, this tiny campus shop was the closest thing to a Big Apple “by-the-slice” pizzeria around.
Everyone who entered through its vibrant, green-trimmed doorway was greeted by the beloved father-son duo of Joe and Sal Graci. When they weren’t tossing dough, they were serving up classic combos of Cheese, Pepperoni, Sausage, and Mushroom, in their signature New York Style.
For a college student, there was nothing better than a styrofoam cup of pop, the loveably gruff NYC attitude, and two crispy Fly Pie slices, for under five bucks.
It was a slice of New York right on High Street.
Now owned and operated by relatives of Joe and Sal, The Flying Pizza still serves outstanding New York pies at its three locations in the Dayton area.
